Congratulations. You are already a winner, of course, but let’s get some details down for posterity.

At the bottom of this page is a form where you can type your profile. You can write your profile any way you want, but below are some guidelines for what you might want to think about along with a few things we ask you not to post on this site.

Your post will be held for moderation before it is posted to the Shovers and Makers blog. If there’s a small thing that needs fixing, we’ll just fix it. If it’s something that affects the character of your profile, we’ll contact you about it. It it shows blatant disregard for the guidelines, we’ll just consider it spam. Please feel free to contact nerdboys@shoversandmakers.net with any questions.

Please do

• Put your name up front, in the title of the post and in the body.
• Tell us where you work and what you do.
• Tell us about something you have done in the past year or two that you are proud of. It doesn’t have to be earth-shaking or have had an impact on the entire profession. It just has to be meaningful to you. Whether you led a project, started a new service, completed a degree, got a new job, saved your library some money, did great work in spite of difficulties outside your control, or successfully matched your sweater and socks most days, we want to hear about it.
• Link to your blog if you have one, and put a post on your blog that links to your Shovers and Makers profile. If you prefer, you can just put your profile on your blog and make a brief post here that links to it. By posting to your blog, you’ll help spread the word about Shovers and Makers.
• You can use HTML in the form, so if there’s a photo of you on the web somewhere (like Flickr or your own site) you can share it with us as part of your profile. Don’t worry about the size or the position, as the Shovers and Makers blog stylesheet will put it in the right place.
• If you need inspiration, you can go back to the Shovers and Makers main page and read some other people’s profiles or go to the Library Journal site to read the some of the Movers and Shakers’ profiles.

Please don’t

• Write a profile for anyone but yourself. If you want to “tag” someone and suggest they write their own that would be great, but this site is for shameless self-promotion only.
• Curse a lot or post anything that would normally get labeled “not safe for work.” If it wouldn’t fly on network TV, keep it on your own blog please.
• Use your post on this blog to attack or criticise other people. Keep it positive, please.
• Use your post on this blog to attack or criticise Shovers and Makers. If you think this whole idea is stupid, that’s OK with us. Criticise us on your blog, or in a comment on the About S&M page, or a letter to the editor of the New York Times but not in a post on this blog.
