Merchandise
Shovers and Makers isn’t about buying stuff. On the other hand, we have stuff you can buy if you want to. No pressure.
T-Shirts
Before Shovers and Makers the website, there was Shovers and Makers the T-shirt. You can buy yours in one of several lovely colors from the Library Society of the World CafePress site. Sylvie is rocking hers in her S&M profile photo.
Buttons
Steve Lawson had some one-inch buttons made up (by the nice folks at Button Arcade). The buttons are as nifty as they are enigmatic (let ‘em wonder what “LSW S&M” stands for). There are two ways to get a button:
- Find Steve at the Computers in Libraries 2009 conference and ask him nicely for a button. If he still has any, he will give you one for free.
- Use the PayPal button below and pay $1.25 for a button (postage paid). You can place orders any time, but Steve will start filling these orders after Computers in Libraries (April 2 or shortly thereafter). If the number of orders exceeds supply, there will be a delay while we get more buttons made.
A word about money
It’s fair for people to wonder about where the money goes with things like this. Josh makes a buck or two off each t-shirt, and CafePress gets the rest. He has pledged some of any profits to LISHost for their hosting of thelsw.org and it’s entirely possible he’ll pocket a few bucks if a ton of people buy shirts.
With the buttons, Steve stands to make $.25 or less off each button (after paying for the button itself, the postage, and the PayPal fees). Purchasers will offset CIL freeloaders. In the unlikely event that he actually makes money on this, chances are it will go into the LSW zine.
Any questions? As always, email the nerdboys (and nerdgirl Iris).
