Rachel Walden
Hi, I’m Rachel, and I’m a medical librarian at Vanderbilt’s Eskind Biomedical Library. I caught the library bug as a student worker at Oberlin College’s science library, and was thrilled and lucky to have the support and encouragement of my current library leadership and colleagues as I worked toward my MLIS while also working full-time at Eskind.
I was honored to be a Mover & Shaker this year, but the write-up most heavily featured my blog work at Women’s Health News. Like Meredith, my day job is important to me and I’d like to share a bit about it with you.
Right now, I’m excited to be contributing to the AHRQ Evidence-based Practice Center at Vanderbilt, and I’m pleased to be doing outreach to our researcher community and letting them know that we have librarians who are well-versed in databases in genetics and other non-traditional resources. I also love the work we do of delivering literature assessment summaries to clinicians to support evidence-based medicine, and personally provide this service to our outpatient diabetes clinic and inpatient internal medicine unit.
I maintain that Shovers and Makers is an inappropriate name for those of us who are not very crafty and/or aspire to non-violence. ;)
