Mary Beth Sancomb-Moran

I am the librarian at the University of Minnesota, Rochester. It’s a brand-new campus and I’m its first librarian, which means I’ll no doubt have a building named for me some day. Unfortunately, I have to die first, so hopefully the honor will be far in the future. I blog at Impromptu Librarian.

Since this is a new campus, I’m involved in creating a virtual library/information commons from inception to fruition. We’re admitting our first freshman class in the fall of 2009, so we’re gearing up. The faculty is creating the interdisciplinary curriculum and is integrating Information Literacy from the start. I’m delighted to be on the ground floor of such an exciting campus.

I’m excited and honored to be a Shover and Maker, and hope to be shoving and making for a long time to come!
