Margaret Smith
My name is Margaret Smith (MegVsMeg on Twitter), and I’m the Physical Sciences Librarian at New York University’s Bobst Library. I provide reference/instruction for science and technology, and I develop our collections in Physics, Chemistry, and Technology. I’m also a student in the distance MSLIS program at Syracuse University.
This year, I’ve been thinking, writing, and presenting on using collaborative/community reference to manifest tacit, informal, or arcane knowledge. I’m interested in letting library staff and patrons ask/answer questions of each other, moving beyond boundaries of what counts as acceptable expertise and scope. Yep.
I proudly accept this award because my passion is making information helpful to people, and shoving everything that gets in the way of that. I am so thankful that I happened upon my fellow S&M’s in the Library Society of the World. You all inspire (and intimidate!) me to be better and better. <3 <3 <3
