Kevin Driedger

My name is Kevin Driedger. I think I’m more maker than shover, but others might disagree. I am a librarian at the Library of Michigan with responsibilities for conservation, cataloging, interlibrary loan (when medical emergencies take out our ILL staff), and many, many others as assigned.
The thing I do that I am most satisfied with is I teach library staff around the state how to care for and repair their collections. When it feels like everyone else is talking about digital-this and online-that, I get to have “cut and paste” classes teaching practical lessons on how to make that John Grisham novel last for many more circulations, or how to keep that county atlas from disintegrating into a thousand pieces. I like making other makers.
I talk about this, and other such low-tech things on my blog Library Preservation.

Kevin Driedger is definitely a Shover & Mover (and a Mover & Shaker) when it comes to sharing his knowledge of library preservation with the library community. We’re lucky to have someone with his talent and generosity in Michigan!
