Joe Kraus scores goals, beats Tigers in OT.

Joe

I am the Science & Engineering Librarian at the University of Denver. One of my goals this last year was to learn more about librarianship with and from the vast network of librarians in the LSW. I had the great fortune to meet several LSWers in person at the SLA conference in Seattle. I was also able to work with Joshua Neff, Laura Crossett and Steve “Nerdboy” Lawson on the Library Camp of the West. Without their encouragement, enthusiasm and support, LCOW ‘08 never would have taken place.

I was also able to work on the editorial board of an Open Access journal called Collaborative librarianship. Please let me know if you would like to submit an article or three.

This year, I finally started a blog where I post my thoughts and ideas concerning information and librarianship and science and technology and books and journals and publishing and lots of other stuff like that. I’ve edited many websites (many by hand in .html) going back to 1995, so I really didn’t see what the “big deal” was with blogs until recently. Now I see that they really do make it soooooo much easier for people to publish their thoughts and ideas to share and collaborate.

One of my goals for next year (January 2010) is to host a national Unconference for librarians interested in scientific and technical information in Denver. I’ve already listed the LSW as a major sponsor! Without the LSW, I never would have achieved these goals. Go team go!

Nice title, Joe. If you didn’t say such nice things about me in your entry, I would have changed your photo to something else.

Oh, I was thinking of the Princeton Tigers — Yeah, that’s it — Princeton, sure.

Joe, you are the first person I thought of when I saw this. Thanks for LCoW!
