Flash Cataloging Mob from NCSU Libraries

Flash Cataloging mob from NCSU LibrariesThis group of librarians and library staff headed out to the Joel Lane House Museum in downtown Raleigh and in 2.5 hours cataloged the museum’s collection in Library Thing. The event was organized by Erin Stalberg, Head, Metadata & Cataloging. This group deftly illustrates that as librarians and library staff we can give back to our communities in many ways. Members of the group: Erin Stalberg, Jamie Bradway, Mary Carmen Chimato, Jacquie Samples, Charley Pennell, Cathy Dorin-Black, Sara Newell, Barbara Weinberg, Rob Loomis, Wes Woody, Keisha Poole, Shirley Hamlett, and Laura Abraham. Belle Long, curator.

[...] Check out the short blurb at Shovers and Makers, and yes it’s an obvious play on LJ’s Movers and Shakers.   [...]

I am so impressed and honored to work with such a great group of people. You truly deserve to be called Shovers & Makers and I am proud to say I know you. This is a day to rival St. Crispin’s Day. For you happy few, you band of catalogers shall be remember’d.

Orion gets my vote for the most literary comment to date.

What a great project–what great work!
